Tis the Season at Spirit of the Herbs

Happy Autumn Friends,

This is my very FIRST blog post!

My name is Holly Hoops and I'm the owner/creator of Spirit of the Herbs Apothecary in Colorado. I am a certified 750+ HR community herbalist and am currently going to Green School at Colorado State University Extension to get my Colorado Gardeners Certificate. I also grow, press, and preserve flowers into beautiful framed art that lasts a lifetime. Herbs, Plants, Flowers, and Trees are my besties and I love collaborating with them to create healing remedies and art.

I started Spirit of the Herbs in my tiny kitchen in 2013 and now here we are going on our TENTH year in business. I feel in my heart it is time to start a blog as it is always important for me to connect with you all, our friends and customers, on a deeper level.
I can remember taking orders over the phone, hand-cutting out labels, and delivering salves all over the state of Colorado in the early stages of the business. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think we would take off the way we did. The messages we receive quite frequently about the benefits of using our products have me in tears most times. It reminds me of why I'm doing this and how incredibly well herbal medicine works for the human body if you're willing to try it. I still work with many loyal customers we've had since the very beginning which just warms my heart.
Spirit of the Herbs Apothecary was created in 2013 from a fire burning within to connect with the moon, explore with the plants and spark the senses naturally with handmade wellness products. The Celtic and Wise Woman traditional folk methods of extraction and infusion are the foundation of our herbal alchemies.
We let our carefully selected medicinal herbs and oils sit for a full lunar cycle (4 weeks minimum). This allows the constituents, terpenes, volatile oils, and essential oils of the medicinal herbs (and cannabinoids in the hemp plant) to extract to their fullest potential. This unique process of extended infusion time, alongside handcrafting with great intention as our ancestors once did, is the essence of our products.
We now carry over 100 handmade bath and body wellness products - from tinctures to healing salves, bath bombs to lip balms - we've got you covered!

UPDATE: Just recently we moved out of our physical location in Lakewood. We are currently online only and are looking forward to scouting out a new location for our apothecary in the Spring. We are hoping to find a collective space with more foot traffic and people coming in to browse.

Keep us in your thoughts and wish us luck as we embark on this new adventure. The ULTIMATE goal and dream would be a Spirit of the Herbs ApotheCafe where we sell all of our handmade products, have our full herbal apothecary available and serve High Tea, and baked goods. I'm putting it out there into the universe - I'm all about manifesting, being in action, and making it happen.

This upcoming Thursday is a day we we like to call Family Day or Friendsgiving. We come together to celebrate this sacred land, this beautiful life, delicious foods, our family, our friendships, and our community.

Our Land Acknowledgement: In the spirit of healing and growing together, we honor and give deep reverence to the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Kiowa, and Ute indigenous tribes of whom this land we walk on was wrongfully stolen. We stand in solidarity with the indigenous people and voices of Colorado.
Please consider donating to your local tribes!
