While there are many extraordinary healing herbs in the plant kingdom, it is the elder tree that continues to enchant humans century after century. It is the first herb to reach for in your medicine chest when seeking deep, nourishing immune system support. In early summer, you can find Elderflowers unfurling into dense clusters of thousands of tiny, cream-colored blossoms, radiating a strong, floral perfume. After the blossoms fall off, heavy collections of round, smooth, dark purple berries appear.

Elderberry syrup is an ancient folk remedy that's really fun to make and provides the concentrated immune-supporting benefits your body needs to ward off sore throats, colds, and the flu. It also tastes delicious on biscuits or in sparkling water!  Folklore suggests that the elder is an enchanted tree, perhaps a true portal to the faerie realm.
