Chamomile is an age-old medicinal herb known in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. It has white and yellow daisy-like coneflowers and has a mild, sweet taste of apples. Chamomile is turned to as a remedy for a variety of complaints including respiratory issues, insomnia, fevers, inflammations, anxiety, and children's ailments. A cup of chamomile tea can calm nervous tension and relieve stress as well as soothe an upset stomach in adults and children. It can also be applied externally to support skin disorders and inflammation. The Egyptians revered chamomile for its healing properties, believing it to be a sacred gift from the Gods. It was used medicinally, cosmetically, and in mummifying the dead. Chamomile is found in most modern-day herbalist apothecaries.
